My taste for books has definetly changed over the

My taste for books has definetly changed over the years.

The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle its been at least 5 years trying to read you, its time for you to find another home.

Another set of books for my mom to take to the thrift store.

The only problem is now I made more space which means I have to buy more books, not sure if that is a bad or good thing 😊.

Bookview:
Joshua Burgess was found dead in the frozen Kennebec River. Martha records her days in a diary, documenting every birth, every conversation, and even the weather. Occasionally, she is called upon to examine bodies and determine causes of death, though this doesn’t happen very often. When Martha examined Joshua’s body, she determined that he had been beaten and hanged. Martha began to investigate his murder because, when she asked the men who pulled him from the river if anyone had seen the rope he was hanged with, they all said no.

A few months earlier, Martha had been called to Rebecca Foster’s residence after she was raped, to examine her. Rebecca had never reported the rape to anyone besides Martha. At the time of the assault, Rebecca’s husband was away on business. Rebecca revealed to Martha that she had been raped by Joshua Burgess and Joseph North. Joshua was the man found in the river, and Joseph is one of the town’s judges.

A new, flashy doctor from Harvard arrived in town and claimed that Joshua wasn’t murdered. He contradicts everything Martha says and does, boasting about his medical degree from Harvard. Little does he know that Martha will later be the one to save his wife and child.

Martha’s life with her husband, Ephraim, and their children is detailed throughout the novel. Her family keeps her grounded, as she serves not only as a midwife but also as an herbalist.

The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon is set in a time when women were expected to be seen and not heard. It was a time when women weren’t allowed to testify in court unless their husbands or fathers were present. Martha stood up for what was right, regardless of the situation, and she defended others no matter who they were.

I didn't want this series to end it was so good and the design of the books are very beautiful. I wanted a little more of Fate and Blythe's story but it was still so heart warming.

📚 Blythe realized she was Life.

📚 Choas was introduced for a brief moment because they all broke the #1 rule. Do not bring someone back from the dead.

📚 Blythe accidently brought Percy back from the dead.

📚 Aris realized that Blythe is Life reincarnated.

📚 Blythe was on the brink of death again but Aris gave his life to save hers.

📚 Fate cursed Percy to a life of misery because no one was able to kill him because Blythe accidently blessed him.

📚 After 27 years of waiting Blythe reunited with Fate.

I wonder if there will be a spinoff based on how the book ended. When Signa and Blythe fully understand their powers and they all take on Chaos 🤔.

I can never guess the murderer correctly 😂😂......but I enjoyed this one even more than the first. I could tell early on in the book that Blythe had some type of powers though she did annoy me at some parts in the book.

The introduction of Fate made the relationship with Signa and death a little more interesting tho he was also annoying 😂. Loved how it ended and can't wait to see how Blythe and Fate get along I knew they were going to end up together in the end.

📚 Elijah was accused of poisioning Duke Wakefield and Signa and Blythe was trying to find out who actually did it, he was arrested along Byron but Byron was released.

📚 Signa revealed who she truly is to Blythe.

📚 Fate is trying to convince Signa that she is his first love reincarnated, name Life.

📚 Byron is acting ever more weird than normal.

📚 Signa finally returns to Foxglove her family home.

📚 Blythe is actually Life reincarnated but her and Fate doesn't realize it yet, but Death and Signa knows.

Book 3 , Wisteria is the final book and it should be interesting to see how it plays out with Blythe and Fate.

I was a little hesitant because it started off slow but once it picked around chpt 13 for me, it had me wanting to know what happened next. I was a little surprised by who the culprit was he wasn't even on my suspect list.

Signa has been through alot, she has an inheritance waiting for her when she turns 20 and everyone around her keeps dying, people only take her in because of her inheritance.

Her aunt dies and then she moves in with the Hawthornes and that's when things start to get really interesting.

Death and Sylas 🤯🤯

I would recommend this but I also realize that it is targeted towards specific people. I love seeing the different reviews of book that I rate 4's and someone is like nope 1 it was trash 😂😂😂.

Foxglove is next.

I finished The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon last night and it reminded me about another book I have The Midwife's Tale by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, not realizing that both these books are about the same woman Martha Ballard. Except, The Midwife's Tale is focused around her diary. Looking at the table of contents most of it overlaps with The Frozen River but it will be interesting to see it told from another authors point of view.
